Two suspects were taken into custody by the Pooneryn Police yesterday (14) over an alleged impersonation of a candidate sitting the GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) examination.

According to Police Media Unit, a 22-year-old individual was arrested while sitting for the Mathematics paper inside an examination hall of a college in Pooneryn after it emerged that he was impersonating a candidate. The arrest was made after the chief exam invigilator informed police.

Investigations had revealed that the suspect had been impersonating a 39-year-old candidate who was employed as an office assistant at a college in Pooneryn. This individual too was subsequently arrested by police.

The two suspects are due to be produced before the Kilinochchi Magistrate’s Court on charges of presenting forged documents and criminal impersonation.
