Two persons were killed and another injured after a motorbike collided head-on with a double cab at Mahiyanganaya last evening.

Police Media Unit said three persons on the motorbike suffered serious injuries in the accident, which occurred on the Mahiyanganaya-Girandurukotte Main Road. The motorbike had burst into flames after the accident, according to police.

The victims were all admitted to the Mahiyanganaya Hospital where two of them succumbed to their injuries. The third victim is still receiving treatment at the hospital.

The two deceased, aged 20 and 22 years, are residents of Girandurukotte.

The remains of the burnt-out motorbike and the double cab have both been taken into police custody.

The driver of the double cab had fled after the incident and investigations are currently underway to arrest the suspect.
