Private bus owners today warned that they would file a fundamental rights petition at the Supreme Court if no solution is provided through the petition filed at the Human Rights Commission (HRC) on the lane restrictions imposed by the Police.

A petition was filed at the HRC today by the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association (LPBOA) against the Police, demanding a separate lane for buses. “We need a separate lane for buses at least during peak times,” President, LPBOA, Gemunu Wijeratne told The Nation.

“We would be compelled to file a fundamental rights petition if no remedy is provided through the petition filed at the HRC,” he said.
