Two persons who were found to be in possession of forged currency notes were arrested yesterday and are due to be handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). In the first instance, a suspect who produced a forged Rs.1000 note to purchase goods at a shop located at Galle Face was arrested after the shop owner informed officers at the police post located there. The 32-year-old suspect is a resident of Embilipitiya.

Meanwhile, an individual who tried to purchase a train ticket at the Kalutara South Railway Station using a forged Rs.500 note was arrested after the station master informed the Kalutara South Police station. The suspect has been identified as a 27-year-old resident of Kirindiwela.

Both suspects are due to be handed over to the CID today for further investigations.
