Two persons including former Deputy Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC), Dhammika Manjira Perera have been remanded till December 7.

Perera was arrested along with an agent identified as Ronnie Ibrahim by the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) yesterday. Abraham is reported to be a director of a certain company. The two were arrested in connection with a Rs. 5 million fraud that took place at the SEC in 2013.

Meanwhile, former Chairman of the SEC, Nalaka Godahewa was also summoned to the FCID in connection with the same incident. The police said that Godahewa through his lawyers had informed that he was unable to arrive at the FCID today.

Accordingly, Godahewa had informed the FCID that he would report to the department on a later date.
