The island-wide strike launched by the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) will conclude at 8.00am tomorrow (4), the association stated in a press release.

The GMOA press release further said that representatives of the association will meet President Maithripala Sirisena in Parliament at 10.00am tomorrow for a special discussion.

After the conclusion of this discussion, the GMOA’s Central Committee will convene at 12.00pm for an emergency meeting at its head office.

The trade union action launched by the GMOA began at 8.00am today and has left services at most government hospitals crippled, severely inconveniencing patients.
