Malaysia’s low-cost carrier (LCC) Malindo Air today confirmed that the operation of daily services to Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo will get underway on 18 December 2015, while the new flights to Ho Chi Minh City will launch on 29 January 2016.

Flight OD185 will depart Kuala Lumpur at 2200 and arrive in Colombo at 2255. The return service on flight OD186 will take off from Colombo at 2355 and touch down in Kuala Lumpur at 0615 the following day, foreign media reports said.

The flight time between Kuala Lumpur and Colombo will take 3 hrs 25mins. The time taken for the Kuala Lumpur – Ho Chi Minh city journey will be 1hr 55 mins from the carrier s main hub in KLIA2

Promotional fares for the new routes are as follows: Kuala Lumpur-Colombo starts from Malaysian Ringgit 339 (approximately Sri Lanka Rs. 11,456) for Economy Class and RM 579 (approximately Sri Lanka Rs. 19,567) for Business Class one-way all inclusive, Kuala Lumpur-Ho Chi Minh starts from RM129 for Economy Class and RM399 for Business Class one-way all inclusive.

The promotional fares include perks such as free baggage allowance, in-flight entertainment, a meal and light refreshments.

Apart from Sri Lanka, Malindo Air has also opened bookings for its first ever routes to Vietnam. The daily services to Sri Lanka and Vietnam mark the airline’s ninth and tenth countries respectively in its expanding international network.

Both routes will be operated daily using Malindo’s 162-seat, two-class Boeing 737 aircraft which could accommodate 12 Business Class and 150 Economy Class seats.

Malindo, which is part-owned by Indonesia’s Lion Air, currently operates flights to destinations in Malaysia, Australia, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand and Singapore, and will commence its first services to Hong Kong on 10 December.

As a hybrid carrier, Malindo Air offers a near full-service offering at competitive prices. Personal televisions are available in every seat, while a free meal will be offered on the flight. Business class passengers also benefit from larger baggage allowance at 40kg.
