Three university students who had been injured after falling off a cliff have been rescued by police and admitted to the Badulla Hospital.
Police Media Unit stated that a call made over the 119 emergency hotline at about 11.35 last night had informed that three university students had been injured after falling off a cliff while trekking in the Namunukula Mountain range.
A group of officers from the Badulla Police, who had traveled to the Namunukula area, were able to locate the injured students and with the aid of area residents, had managed to rescue them and admit them to the Badulla Hospital.
Police said a team of 12 persons comprising of 11 students from the Jayewardenepura, Sabaragamua and Uva-Wellassa Universities, as well as another individual had been trekking in the mountain when the incident occurred.
Heavy mist which prevailed in the area had led to the students getting into distress, police further added.
