Railway station masters and Controllers have called off their strike after a discussion with the railway authorities, a short while ago.
Railway station masters and Controllers today commenced the strike after an engine driver had allegedly changed an engine without necessary permission, Secretary of the Sri Lanka Station Masters’ Union of the Railway Department said.
The engine driver in question had allegedly changed the two engines without obtaining the prior permission of the Station Master and the Controller on duty at the Peradeniya Railway station.
Earlier yesterday too train engine drivers had called off a strike action launched against an alleged assault on an engine driver at the Ragama railway station. A group of engine drivers attached to the Electrical Power Coaches Shed (EPCS) had commenced the strike alleging that a fellow driver had been assaulted
