Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake blamed the Government Press for failing to print budget proposals with accuracy.
This happened yesterday when MEP leader Dinesh Gunawardena, raising a point of order, said that the government had released two different reports on the budget.
Minister Karunanayake said that the printing was done at the last minute and as one machine of the Government Press had gone out of order two pages of the Sinhala document had gone missing.
“Those two pages had been added to complete the book later. Items 116 to 120 were not in the Sinhala book due to this lapse on the part of the press. My ministry officials asked me whether they should print the corrected version again and I gave the nod. This is that new book. This happened only in the Sinhala version. However, on behalf of the Finance Ministry, I apologise for the inconvenience caused,” he said.
