A mesmerizing four over spell by man of the match Dwayne Bravo, who took four wickets, helped West Indies rip through the Sri Lankan middle order and record a 23-run- win in the second T 20 International played under lights at the R. Premadasa Stadium on November 11 (Wednesday).
Bravo combined with Rampaul (who snapped up three wickets) and restricted the hosts team to 139 all after West Indies batted first and made 162 in their allotted 20 overs for the loss of six wickets.
Sri Lankans were at one stage in a commanding position with their total at 93 for 1, but wickets began to fall at regular intervals when the West Indies hit back strongly with their hardworking bowlers.
Man of the series Tillakaratne Dilshan with his breezy 38 ball 52, Jayasuriya 30 (off 32 deliveries) and a quick-fire 11 off 15 balls by Siriwardena kept the scoreboard ticking, but these efforts weren’t sufficient to stop West Indies from running away with the match.
Earlier in the match a sensational three over spell of fast bowling by Sri Lankan captain Lasith Malinga, during which he took the important scalps of hard hitters Dwayne Bravo and Kierran Pollard in quick sessions, enabled Sri Lanka to restrict the formidable West Indies to a mere score of 162 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
