Two brothers were killed after their motorbike collided with a tipper vehicle near the Mattala Airport at around 6.30am today.

Police Media Unit stated that the tipper was turning towards the airport when a motorbike headed towards Hambantota crashed into its side. The motorcyclist and his pillion rider were killed on the spot.

The victims, aged 24 and 16 years, have been identified as residents of Andarawewa, Hambantota. Police said that the incident had occurred while the 24-year-old motorcyclist was taking his 16-year-old brother to a tuition class.

The driver of the tipper has been arrested. Hambantota Police are investigating.
