Andre Russell and Carlos Brathwaite shared a magnificent 193 runs partnership for the eighth wicket to help West Indies recover from a shaky 109-7 in the 30th over to total a match-winning score of 318 off 48.4 overs to steer them to a 43-run win on the Duckworth/Lewis rain rule over Sri Lanka Board President’s XI in a one-day practice match played at the Colts grounds.

Russell slammed an exhilarating 89 off 54 balls inclusive of six sixes and six fours while Brathwaite hit early form to make a strong claim for a one-day berth with a stroke-filled century (113 off 58 balls that included 10 fours and seven sixes.

Sri Lanka Board team reached 103-3 off 21 overs when bad light and rain ended play.

Board team skipper Lahiru Thirimanne sadly out of form in the Tests scored a sedate 41 off 48 balls and Kusal Mendis hit 32 off 46 balls but the home team were far behind the required run rate.
