National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader MP and former minister Wimal Weerawansa’s passport was granted conditional release by the Negombo Magistrate this morning. The MP was not imposed any travel restriction and the case was fixed for May 03.
Meanwhile, an official from the NFF said that their party leader’s tour in Europe is being re-scheduled and he will be leaving for Italy soon.
He was blocked on Friday at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while producing an invalid passport and arrested by the CID officials. Later, he was produced in the Negombo Magistrate’s Court. The Magistrate has released the MP on a Rs. 10,000 cash bail and two sureties of one million rupees each.
