Ronny Ibrahim will take over as the head coach of St. Peter’s College first fifteen rugby team for the upcoming 2016 schools season.
One of the most experienced rugby coaches in the country today, Ibrahim has a proud coaching career of over 10 years.
He took to coaching in the early 2000’s at his old school Kingswood College and plotted them to glory.
Ibrahim is the coach who moulded the present Sri Lankan skipper Fazil Marija to be an outstanding player.
On several occasions, Marija has commented that his firstmentor was Ibrahim who identified his talent during his schooldays and made him an accomplished fly half. If not for him, Marija admitted he would never have been in this position.
Starting from 2003, Ibrahim has coached Kingswood College to the triple championship titles for three consecutive years, a record yet to be broken by any other Kingswood rugby coach. In 2005 Ibrahim re wrote the Kingswood rugby history by being one of the greatest teams they have ever produced, winning all their rugby matches on offer under Eranda Weerakkody brother of Nalaka Weerakkody, the former Sri Lanka full back.
Ibrahim spearheaded Navy Sports Club rugby by elevating them to become a formidable team in 2009 under his coaching.
He also has the luxury of producing more than 50 national players, which speaks volumes about his capabilities and efficiency as a coach.
