Two persons were killed and 30 others injured after a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus collided with a tipper vehicle in Puttalam today.

Police Media Unit said the incident had occurred at around 1.30am near the Puttalam Special Task Force (STF) camp. An SLTB bus traveling along the Anuradhapura-Puttalam main road had crashed into the back of a tipper vehicle traveling Mullaitivu towards Colombo.

The driver of the bus and a passenger were killed in the accident, while 30 others, all passengers of the bus, sustained injuries. They have been admitted to the Puttalam hospital. The bodies of the deceased persons are also at the hospital. The identities of the two deceased persons have not been determined as yet. Puttalam police are investigating.
