The all-party meeting which the President Maithripala Sirisena pledged just after his return to Sri Lanka after addressing the United Nations General Assembly takes place this evening seeking views about the way the Government should act with regard to the Geneva resolutions.

Representatives from all the parties which represent the Parliament have been invited for the meeting. President’s Media Unit said that President Maithripala Sirisena will chair the nationally important forum today at the Presidential Secretariat.

Officials from the Presidential Secretariat highlighted that the conference will be a significant forum as 21 political parties have been invited includingt the main six political parties which contested the general elections early this year. Three representatives from each party including the General Secretary will participate in this forum.

They added that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will participate as the leader of the United National Party and Opposition Leader R. Sampandan as the leader of Tamil National Alliance. Former Minister Wimal Weerawansha as the leader of Jathika Nidahas Peramuna and Udaya Gammanpila as the leader of his new party are also expected to participate, they added.
