United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Western Provincial Councilor Upali Kodikara has been arrested by Police.

Kodikara was taken into custody for allegedly obstructing police from conducting their duties at the office of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to investigate and inquire into serious acts of fraud, corruption and abuse of power, state resources, and privileges.

The incident had occurred last Friday (October 16) when former President Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived at the Presidential Commission’s office at the BMICH to give a statement.

The PC member had surrendered to police this morning. He was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate, who remanded him till October 23.
