PHD Waidyatilaka who is in a unique position as the only International Technical Official in the world for all three main Athletics bodies, namely International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and World Masters Athletics (WMA) has been appointed as a member of the Jury of appeal for the forthcoming IPC World Championships to be held in Doha, Qatar.
It is a rare honour for Sri Lanka that Waidyatilaka has been appointed to the Jury of appeal in a World Championships which is normally reserved for the Council members of the World Body.
Incidentally it was only last month that Waidyatilaka was appointed as the Technical Adviser to The Athletics Association of Sri Lanka in recognition of the services rendered by him to the uplift of Technical Education in athletics for over two decades both in Sri Lanka and abroad.
Waidyatilaka who had a busy schedule this year officiating in various championships and conducting Technical courses abroad will be proceeding to Doha for the WMA championships which will be held from 21 to 31 Oct.2015.
Waidyatilaka, a chartered civil engineer by profession excelled in the 110m and 400m hurdles while at Richmond College and later University of Ceylon establishing several new records.
