Rendering another milestone to experience the inimitable galactic melody, the popular Rhythm of the Maroons (ROM), a musical phenomenon organized by the Music Circle of Ananda College was held on October 10 at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksha Theater. The event saw the participation of well-renowned artists such as Victor Rathnayaka and Indrachapa Liyange and of other schools as well.
The ROM was colored with concepts like, inter-school singing and choir competitions. This is the third season of Vocalize journey. Dhanushka Chandimal from Carey College, Colombo won Vocalize singing championship and DS Senanayaka College, Colombo won the Vocalize choir championship.
Rhythm of the Maroons came to light on November 19, 2006, at the Kularathne Auditorium and has since then been taken to venues like Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, the BMICH and the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksha Theatre. This time, the ROM was organized for the 10th consecutive year and the specialty of the Rhythm of the Maroons is that all organizing, playing and singing is done by young talented Anandians.
Under the guidance of Ananda College principal, Kithsiri Liyanagame and the teacher-in-charge KM Rathnapala, Music Circle President Damsara Bandara and his board members led Rhythm of the Maroons to make it a successful event in the school calendar.
