Colombo High Court today acquitted Danuna Thilakaratne from the controversial Hi-Corp case after dragging it several years. High Court acquitted Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka from the Hi-Corp case on March 15, 2012 almost 40 months ago.

High Court Judge Devika de Livera Tennakoon gave the judgment acquitting Danuna Tilakaratne as his lawyers pointed out that Thilakaratne had not provided any tariff as claimed. It was alleged that Hi-corp International had earned undue profits through arms procurement deals for the Sri Lanka Army at the time Sarath Fonseka was the Army Commander.

Thilakaratne, who had been in hiding since 2010 after a court case was filed against him on the Hicorp deals surfaced in December last year.
