DNA samples obtained from Saman Jayalath, one of the accused in the murder of five-year-old Seya Sadewmi in Kotadeniyawa matched samples taken from the scene of the crime, the Minuwangoda Magistrate informed today.

This was announced in open court today after the magistrate revealed the contents of the report compiled by the Genetech Institute which conducted the DNA test. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had commissioned this report and had submitted it to court after Genetech handed it over to the department.

Saman Jayalath and his brother, Dunesh Priyashantha alias ‘Kondaya’ are currently in remand custody over the rape and murder of Seya Sadewmi.
