The Government’s move to recruit 1500 Tamil youth to the Police Department is underway and interviews are being held these days in the Northern Province. Interviews in Jaffna were held on October 10 and it was on October 11 in Vavuniya.

Interviews were held for around 450 applicants at the Gamini Maha Vidyalaya in Vavuniya.  SSP Vavuniya Wasantha Wickremesinghe told The Nation that the lack of police officers who can handle the Tamil language in the province was a serious issue and this would find the solutions to the issue.
