Milinda Siriwardana celebrated his selection to the Sri Lanka Test squad against West Indies by scoring an attractive century for Sri Lanka Board President’s XI in their three-day match the touring West Indies side which ended in a draw at the SSC grounds.
Siriwardana became the third centurion of the innings scoring an undefeated 105 off 149 balls (18 fours) as the home team in reply to West Indies’ first innings of 209 finished on 455-7 when the match ended.
Resuming from their overnight total of 233-3, the Board President’s team continued to bat throughout the third day denying the West Indies batsmen of any batting practice ahead of the first Test against Sri Lanka starting at Galle on Wednesday.
Siriwardana’s century followed that of Udara Jayasundera (142) and Minod Bhanuka (101) on the second day and it frustrated the West Indies bowlers who found little success on the SSC strip.
