MAS Casualline women’s cager team pose with the trophies they won

Brandix Intimate Apparel and MAS Casualline did well to win the men’s and women’s Super League titles respectively at the Mercantile Volleyball Tournament that concluded at the NYSC courts in Maharagama on October 4.

Brandix Intimate Apparel managed to beat MAS Linea Aqua in a hard fought out final in the men’s category. The games were extended to the maximum in the four sets that were played with neither side willing to give in.

This place went to SLT Human Capital.
MAS Casualline too were extended to four sets by Brandix Intimate Apparel in the best of five sets final. MAS Casualline took the advantage having won the first two sets but lost the third set obtaining only 16 points. But the fourth set was closely fought out and victory margin was only five points.

Ranga Fernando of Brandix Intimate Apparel was adjudged the Most Valuable Players and was presented a motor cycle as his award.

The men’s best player in the Super League was Ranga Fernando, the best setter was Chathuranga Fernando also of Brandix Indimate Apparel. The best attacker was Lakshan Sudasinghe of MAS Linea Aqua.

The women’s best player was Chaaya Sanjewani while the best setter was Nisanka Sandamali and the best attacker was Thakshila Madurangi all from MAS Casualline.

The Championship event for men was won by VTA Holdings who beat MAS Active Leisureline in a high scoring four setter.
The women’s event was won by MAS Casualline who beat Linea Clothing in straight sets.

Voge Tex took the men’s and women’s titles in the A division category. Their men beat Couraulds Clothing in two straight sets while their women beat MAS strechline also in straight sets.
