Two suspects have been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in connection with the 2005 killing of Former Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian Joseph Pararajasingham in Batticaloa.
According to the Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara the arrests were made on Tuesday (October 6) following investigations carried out by the CID. “The two suspects were arrested in Batticaloa are believed to be former LTTE cadres” he said adding that they are now being held by the CID under a detention order for further investigations in to the incident.
Pararajasingham was assassinated in 2005 while attending the Christmas midnight mass at St Mary’s church, Batticaloa. Gunmen opened fire on Pararajasingham just after he received communion, killing him and injuring eight others, including his wife.
