Showery conditions which severely impacted the island over the past week are likely to ease briefly before the rains return again after Monday (October 6), the Department of Meteorology stated.

Duty Meteorologist of the Meteorology Department Nadee Rupasinghe, speaking to The Nation, stated that the inter-monsoonal showers Sri Lanka is currently experiencing will ease for a few days.

Until then, morning showers (predominantly over the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Matara regions) as well as light thundershowers throughout most of the island after four in the evening will prevail.

However, conditions may worsen after October 6, when thundershowers, and lightning will intensify further, she informed. (UD)
