A superb spell of bowling by left arm spinner Piyumal Sinhawansa (match bag of 13/57) and equally good performance by vice captain Vanitha Wanninayaka (108 in 166 balls with 3 sixes and 11 fours) helped St Anne’s College Kurunegala to an easy innings and 58 run victory over Rahula College Matara in their Singer Trophy inter school under-19 division II Cricket tournament match played in Kurunegala.

Put in to bat, St Anne’s scored 243 runs in their first innings thanks mainly to their vice captain Vanitha Wanninayaka who scored a fluent 108 and opener Vimukthi Bandara (55) also completed a useful fifty.

In reply Rahula were restricted to 96 in their first innings. Left arm spinner Piyumal Sinhawansa had the amazing figures of 17.3 overs 5 maidens 31 runs 9 wickets. Rahula were bundled out for just 89 in the second essay and Sinhawansa (4/26) was the main destroyer again.
