U-19 boys champs - Kingswood College Kandy

Two leading Kandy schools Kingswood College and Girls High School won the boys under-19 and girls under-19 titles respectively at the National Schools Chess Championship which was held at Maliyadeva College Kurunegala recently.

In all ninety six teams have been participated for this three day tournament which was conducted by the Ministry of Education.
In the boys under-19 category Kingswood College collected 27 points after their six rounds with an unbeaten record to clinch the title. D.S. Senanayaka College were placed second followed by Ananda College.

Girls High School Kandy clinched the under-19 girls tournament by overcoming Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo and Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda in the final rankings.

Royal College Colombo emerged champions in the boys under-15 segment of the tournament while Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo annexed the girls under-15 title ahead of Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda.
