Opener Danushka Gunathilaka led a Sri Lanka ‘A’ successful run chase against NZC Winter Training Squad with 120-ball century to guide them to seven-wicket win in their second tour match of New Zealand played at Lincoln.
Gunathilaka thumped four sixes and 11 fours in his knock of 106 before retiring out as Sri Lanka ‘A’ chased down the home side’s total of 270-9 with 27 balls to spare.
Gunathilaka and co-opener Dhananjaya de Silva who scored an attractive 86 off 91 balls shared a stand of 146 to give their team the impetus for their successful chase.
Fast bowler Tharaka Gamage also shone for the winning side capturing four wickets for 59 runs. He was instrumental in reducing the home side to 18-3 at one stage by capturing the first three wickets to fall before they made a recovery through a fighting century from Mitchell Santner (110 off 96 balls).
