Sri Lanka were placed fourth in the Asian rugby sevens second leg when they were beaten by 7 points to 33 by Asian number two ranked nation Hong Kong side in the third place  play-off match concluded at Thailand’s international stadium on Sunday.

Asian number one Japan eventually won the Cup championship thrashing Asian number three ranked South Korea by 45 points to 7 in the final.

They had also won the first leg in China beating the host country 28-12 in the final.

Earlier in the day after a closely fought out battle Sri Lanka beat China 14-7 in the Cup quarter-finals.

For the gallant Tuskers their skipper cum play maker Fazil Marija played an outstanding game with his breathtaking runs, where he scored one try along with his scrum half Srinath Sooriabandara who scored the other try. Marija converted both tries.

In the semi-finals the Sri Lankan outfit didn’t have any answers to the formidable South Korean side that ran out worthy winners by 27 points to nil.
