The India Cultural Center, Colombo in association with Sri Lanka India Society will organize Gandhi Jayanti: A program to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on  October 5, 2014 at 5.00 pm at its auditorium, 16/2 Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7.
Gandhi Jayanti is observed every year to commemorate the birth of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (October 2, 1869 – January 30, 1948).It provides an occasion to remember Gandhiji’s ideals of truth and non-violence and his philosophy of Satyagraha, and also to celebrate his life and recognize his role in gaining India’s Independence from colonial rule. The Gandhi Jayanti celebrations are aimed to disseminate Gandhian philosophy, principles and beliefs. The celebration of Gandhi Jayanti is not limited within the country. This day is also observed by the United Nations as the International Day of Non-Violence.

Mrs. Shobhana Radhakrishna Chief Functionary, Gandhian Forum for Ethical Corporate from India will be delivering a speech on ‘Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology of universal peace, non-violence and ethical leadership’.
