Country’s highways system was extended with another nine kilo meters facilitating commuters or the general public in their transport related requirements. The new section, from Kadawatha to Kaduwela on the Outer Circular Highway (OCH) was opened on Thursday night. Toll fees for light vehicles from Kadawatha to Kaduwela are Rs.100, Kadawatha to Galle Rs.500, Kadawatha to Matara Rs.650.

A super luxury bus service was also inaugurated on Friday from Kadawatha to Matara and from Kadawatha to Galle on the OCH which connects with the Southern Expressway. Eight private buses and six Sri Lanka Transport Board buses will operate daily from Kadawatha to Matara while four private buses and four SLTB buses will operate from Kadawatha to Galle.

The total distance from Kadawatha to Matara will be 154 kilometers, while a person will be charged Rs.500. The total distance from Kadawatha to Galle will be 124.7 kilometers while a person will be charged Rs.400.

SLTB sources said that a joint time table (SLTB and private bus) will come into effect. He further said it is planned to start short a distance super luxury bus service on the OCH from Kadawatha and Gampaha to Battaramulla for the convenience of office workers. They also said that the increase of the number of both SLTB and private buses will be considered on the demand.
