What was once conceived as a dream by “Hisham Abdeen Rugby Football Academy” (HARFA) is today recorded as one of the best organized rugby schools in Sri Lanka contributing towards uplifting standards for both men and women. HARFA Rugby Carnival too has gained in popularity favouring the game of longer development. The Organizing Committee should be congratulated for their outstanding organising skills.

Both the men’s and women’s teams did the tournament proud by performing at their best with lots of excitement on the field where everyone who was at this tournament appreciated. Credit should be given to all the players, for their impressive competitiveness with all teams displaying good rugby which in most cases were somewhat a showpiece. This annual rugby extravaganza was held at the Havelock Park.

Under-14 – Cup winners were Kandy Rugby Academy while second place went to HARFA. The best player in the under-14 was Tharanaga Dileepa of Kandy Academy. Plate was won by St. Benedict’s College and the runner-up team was St. Thomas’ College Prep.
Under-16 – Cup winning team was CWW Kannangara MV and second place went to Science College. Best player of the tournament was Yohana Samaranayake of the champion team. Plate winners were Ananda College and the runners-up were Veluwana College.

Under-18 – Cup was won by Ananda College and the runners-up were HARFA. The best player’s award went to Sasindu Ratnaweera of Ananda College.

Under-20 – HARFA Academy won the Cup and second place was taken by Dharmapala College. Plate was won by Black Hawks and the runners-up were Petersons S.C. The best player’s award went to Akila Amitraj of HARFA.

Open competition – Army won the Cup event and the Black Hawaks S.C took second place. In the over-35 open tournament Cup winners were Thurstan SC and second place went to Old Lumbini SC.
