Well-known lyrics writer, Ven. Konwewe Ariyarathana Thera’s latest book ‘Bo Maluwe Sudu Weliketa’ an anthology of children’s songs, two compact discs, ‘Punch Punchi Tharaka’ and ‘Bomaluwe Sudu Weliketa’, will be launched on September 26 at the Yowun Nikethana Hall, Anuradhapura at 3.00pm, as organized by ‘Ape Aththo’ Organization. Lyrics writer and critic, Mahinda Chandresekara will deliver the key lecture, and Ven. Rambukkana Sidhdhartha Thera, Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thera, vocalist Karunarathne Diwulgane and several other will grace the event.
Ven. Konwewe Ariyarathana is a resident monk of the London Buddhist Vihara, and while teaching Dhamma to the students, he has also composed hundreds of songs both for adults as well as children. Ven. Thera is in Sri Lanka for the launch, and told The Nation that ‘Punchi Punchi Tharaka’ is for the smallest and the ‘Bomaluwe Sudu weliketa’for the next group. His book which includes all of songs also comes with music codes as well graphics which our memory goes to the school book graphics in 70 and 80s.
