Fourteen top rugby players representing their country in the ongoing 2015 Rugby World Cup in England have played in Sri Lanka for various club sides in local tournaments like the Dialog Premier league, Clifford Cup knock-out, Inter-club Rugby Sevens and the Carlton Sevens in the past four years.

There were three players from the defending World Cup champion side New Zealand, four from Tonga, three from Fiji, and two each from Samoa and the USA.A 15th player Stephen Bethan of Samoa coached the Sabaragamuwa Stallions.
