Sri Lankan 2014/15 inter club league and knock out champions Kandy Sports club will meet the unbeaten Doha RFC in the Asian Club Rugby Championship finals today at 8:30pm (Sri Lankan time) in Dubai.
Kandy SC got a lucky break to be in the final due to their match against Abu Dhabi Saracens being called off and forfeited by the opponents due to a mess up by the organizers, as they could not arrange an ambulance to be present on the grounds before the commencement of the game.
The organizers awarded a win to Kandy SC who picked up a full five points from that match to qualify for the final.
After the completions of the first round of two games by each participating team, Doha RFC obtained 11 points with two wins and was placed first while Kandy SC secured the second spot by obtaining 10 points, with one win and a draw.
The bottom two places were occupied by Olymp- Kazakhstan and Abu Dhabi Saracens with four points and one point respectively.
