The Blue Elephant, Hilton Colombo’s nightclub that was closed over four years ago, is now a multi-event venue that caters to the various needs of people. With bookings open until January 2016, The Blue is the ideal venue for conferences, social events, parties and even weddings.

The 3,840 ft area can be divided into five separate rooms with paneled walls that give it a sound-proof effect. Parking facilities are also available and the venue can be accessed from outside the hotel and also through the lobby.

However, the venue cannot house multi-events for large crowds and as Sales Conference and Events Director Arosha Perera said, the venue can hold a wedding and four other small events. For events with larger crowds, two of the rooms can be combined to make a larger room. Despite having held weddings at The Blue, the venue is mainly used for conferences.

The Blue is ideal as a conference room as it has a RGB (Red/Green/Blue) lighting system and approximately 50 colors, a drop down screen with a multimedia projector in each room and a separate bar counter. While the garden area can be used for kids’ parties and is quite beautifully arranged, the glass-front can be darkened to suit the event.

The most remarkable feature of the venue is the magnificent chandeliers which Arosha Perera described as upside down mushrooms. The orange contrasts brilliantly with the colorful ceiling art. The front area is a new addition and thus has a higher ceiling than the rest of the room. This gives the venue a more spacious and grander look.

The Blue is the first project in the refurbishment of Hilton Colombo and the venue, since its opening on August 10, has been used for a number of events.
