Vidyartha College will be coached by Vajira Jayatilake this season. He played for the Army from 1994 to 2009, and led the Army sevens team in 2000.

Jayathilake played for Sri Lanka in 2000 to 2003 and he was also the Army assistant coach in 2014 and ‘15.

Kandy SC off to UAE
Kandy SC left for the UAE on Friday for the inaugural Asia Rugby Western Clubs Champions League. In this tournament four champion clubs from their most recent respective Cross Border or Domestic Competitions in the UAE-Gulf, Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan will be seen in action. The four clubs will play against each other to be labeled the Champion Rugby Club in Western Asia. Kandy SC’s first game will be on Saturday against Olymp RFC in Dubai.

Dissanayake heads
Wasantha Dissanayke an ardent rugby lover heads the Vidyartha College Rugby. His main aim is to bring back rugby to where it was at Vidyartha with the backing of his committee.

Under-15 cricket
Kandy Zone II under-15 cricketers pocketed their second win in the ongoing Provincial cricket tournament; they thrashed Nuwara Eliya District by nine wickets in the match played at Pallekelle Stadium.

Nuwara Eliya District 116 all out in 49.3 over’s – Kandy District Zone II 118 for 1 in 14.5 over’s.’

West Indies Tour
Kandy cricket fans who missed the Indian cricket team in action in Kandy, will get to watch two games with West Indies team against Sri Lanka on 7th November which will be an ODI, and 9th November a T 20 game.
