Two more Deputy Ministers have taken oaths before President Maithripala Sirisena today.

Accordingly, Anuradha Jayaratne has been sworn in as the Deputy Minister of Mahaweli Development and Environment while Sarathie Dushmantha has taken oaths as the Deputy Minister of Justice.

Twenty-one Deputy Ministers took oaths yesterday at the Presidential Secretariat. Nineteen State Ministers were also sworn in at the same ceremony.

The appointment of Jayaratne and Dushmantha take the combined tally of State and Deputy Ministers to 42. According to a motion approved by Parliament on September 3, the maximum number of State and Deputy Ministers that can be appointed by the Government is 45, which leaves room for three further appointments.
