President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday appointed Group Chairman of Galle Face Hotel Sanjeev Gardiner as the brand ambassador of the National Kidney Fund which was established in line with the sustainable program to control Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), according to the concept of the President.
Australian-educated Sanjeev Gardiner, one of Sri Lanka’s youngest entrepreneurs hails from an illustrious family. Having acquired ownership of Galle Face Hotel in 1996, Sanjeev’s business empire extends from primarily the hospitality sector – most notably his investments in Ceylon Hotels Corporation, Kandy Hotels Plc and Lihiniya Surf Hotels, to banking and retail sectors. Sanjeev Gardiner, who possesses a degree in Accounting and Finance from Australia’s RMIT University, was named the ‘Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year’ by Sri Lanka Tourism in the year 2012.
Sanjeeve Gardiner is the son of former Chairman of Galle Face Hotel, Cyril Aloysius Gardiner and the grand son of Chevalier Sir Chittampalam Abraham Gardiner, the pioneer cinema promoter in the country.
