Police are seeking public assistance to arrest two suspects who allegedly carried out an armed robbery of pawn shop in Ja-Ela on August 15 and escaped with over Rs.54 million in cash and gold jewelry.
Police said the suspects had threatened the two female employees of the shop with a knife before tying them up and escaping with Rs.600,000 in cash and Rs.53,760,000 in gold jewelry. However, CCTV cameras installed at a shop adjoining the pawn shop has recorded visuals of one of the suspects.
The video, released to the media by Police Headquarters, shows the suspect, wearing a backpack, acting as a lookout before running off with a bag containing the stolen cash.
Police has further said the owner of the pawn shop is offering a cash reward of Rs.500,000 for information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect.
