Sri Lanka Customs has seized 30 cartons containing 75,000 tins of snuff (Dunkudu) from a warehouse at Peliyagoda. Customs Spokesman Leslie Gamini said the tins, weighing 750 Kgs was valued at Rs.2,638,440. Each tin contained about 10 grams of snuff each.  A suspect company of Colombo-10, has imported this snuff from Madurai, India on August 24 having declared them as ‘Sambrani’ (Benzoin Resin). The snuff is restricted from being imported and the company has not obtained a license from DG ( Excise) under the Tobacco Tax Act to import it, he further said. He added that the Dangerous Drugs Control Board has confirmed that Nicotine was present in this snuff.
