Jerome Jayaratne

Sri Lanka Cricket Head of Coaching Jerome Jayaratne has been appointed as interim head coach of the Sri Lanka cricket team for the home series against West Indies next month.

Jayaratne, a former Sri Lanka Under-19 cricketer has been heading the SLC coaching department since 2008.

He is a Cricket Australia (CA) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) qualified coach.

Jayaratne, a former right-arm fast bowler who played for S Thomas’ College, Mt Lavinia represented Colombo Cricket Club in the Premier domestic tournament.

SLC are currently on the hunt for a permanent head coach after Marvan Atapattu tended his resignation from the post at the end of the three-Test series against India which Sri Lanka lost 1-2.

Jayaratne was strongly tipped to take over as interim coach as the time frame available to SLC before the West Indies tour was insufficient.
