Schools in Kandy are now preparing for the new inter-schools cricket season which has become a much looked forward to event.

St. Anthony’s College will be led by Kaniska Ugalpaya and are coached by Prasad Ranawake. They play their first game on 25th and 26th September against Wesley College at Campbell Park.

Trinity College will open there season with Maliyadewa College on 11th and 12th September and most probably will be led by Nushan Weerasinghe and Sampath Perera is the coach.

Dharmaraja College will open against Dharmasoka College on 15th and 16th September at Maggona. This time they will be led by all rounder Weluka Galahetiyawa and coached by Senaka Dissanayake.

Kingswood College will play their first game against Sri Sumangala College Panadura at Police grounds. Ruwan Hathurusinghe is tipped to lead the side and former Antonian and Kandy cricketer Indika Fernando is the coach.

St. Sylvester’s College plays their first game on 14th and 15th against Anuradhapura Central at the Pallekelle Stadium or Police grounds. Once again coached by Roland Perera and assisted by Jaliya Weerasinghe. Malith Prematilake will lead the side.

Vidyartha College come out on 17th and 18th at Police grounds against Kingswood College. The team is captained by all-rounder Namal Perera, and coached Sanjeewa Silva.
Sri Rahula College led by Jeewantha Wijarthne and coached by Aubrey Kuruppu are hoping to play their first game in the third weekend of this month.

Two students from Kandy have been select to represent Sri Lanka at the Commonwealth Youth Games, which will be held from 5th to 11th in Samoa. The two participants are Bevishan Wijewickrema of Trinity College will take part in the 77 kg category and Sreemali Samarakoon from Marathagoda Nalanda Central will be take part in the women’s 48 kg categories.

Kandy District Table Tennis Association felicitated seven paddlers who brought honor to the country at the South Asian Junior Table Tennis Championship held in India. The felicitated paddlers are Ridmi Karadanarachchi, Thanushi Rodrigo (Mahamaya Girls College), Udaya Ranasinghe, Prasad de Silva, Krishan Wickremaratne, Dinesh Kavishka (Vidyartha College), Disanka Tennakoon (Dharmaraja College).
