Veteran comedian, Berty Gunatilleke was felicitated at a ceremony held in Colombo recently where he was presented with Rs 300,000, courtesy President Maithripala Sirisena. The presentation was made to Gunatilleke by the Head of President’s Office Ranjan Dharmawardene. The ceremony, organized by the Sirilaka United Arts Forum (Sirilaka Eksath Kala Sandanaya), was held at the Public Library on August 30 (Sunday).
According to Sirilaka United Arts Forum President, Sriani Dissanayake the money was presented to Gunatilleke in aid of his welfare. The veteran artiste is 91-years-old.
Gunatilleke teamed up with comedians Annesley Dias and Samuel Rodrigo in the much acclaimed ‘Vinoda Samaya’ series,  which entertained Sri Lankan audiences for many years. Gunatilleke has been a comedian for over three decades.
