The 23rd Annual Export Awards Ceremony of the National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) is scheduled to be held on September 18. The awards ceremony has been conducted over the last 22 years and has assumed national significance.

It is the most high profile event in the business calendar of Sri Lanka which is looked forward to by the business community.

The event this year too will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Colombo. It is expected to be attended by over 750 participants comprising the cream of the Business Community, State Officials, Diplomats and other Special Invitees.

This year the Council of the Chamber has decided to present Special Awards related to Special Projects implemented by the Chamber, which has a bearing on socio-economic development, in addition to exports.

The NCE has also launched a re-designed trophy which has been conceptualized with new features.

The objective of the event is to motivate and reward exporters on their achievements in the international marketplace, in recognition of the fact that exporters make a vital contribution to the economy of Sri Lanka.

The most noteworthy feature related to this year’s award ceremony has been the restructuring of the entire scheme to reflect current needs, as well as to make the award winners more competitive, to upgrade the stature of the event. Accordingly, the content of the applications for award, and the criteria for selection, have been revised.
