Playing against another school or among schools in any sport is a great feeling for the players who will be able to reminisce their past glory. This time 24 schools, including five girls schools in Sri Lanka, will be engaged in a golf tournament on 6th September at the Ridgeways course.

The organizing of this tournament by Usha de Silva of Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya, will clearly offer a carnival atmosphere with a papare band and drinks trolleys placed around the golf course to sip when their throats go dry.

This is the third RCGC inter-Schools Alumni Golf Tournament with the NDB coming in as a generous sponsor. This will also be contested by past and some present pupils of the 24 schools. This will also attract the most number of players in a single golf tournament, said Ranil Pieris the captain of the Royal Colombo Golf Club.

Usha de Silva said that the tournament will begin with a shot gun start, one at 7 a.m. and the other at 1 p.m. with about 220 players to be registered. Closing date for entries is 2nd September at the club office. Each team can enter five players.

The tournament will be played on a five ball stableford score basis. De Silva disclosed that the winning team will be rewarded with a trip to Thailand with the help of the generous sponsorship by NDB who are supporting this event for the second successive year.
Other winners too will receive attractive gifts and packages at the presentation of awards that will follow.

Schools participating are: Royal College, S. Thomas’ College, Wesley College, Trinity College, St. Benedict’s College, St. Joseph’s College, D.S. Senanayake College, St. Peter’s College, St. Sylvester’s College, Ananda College, St. Anthony’s College, S.
