Sri Lanka’s junior rugby players failed to impress in the second leg of the Asian under-20 rugby Sevens tournament losing two and winning just one at Kings Park, Hong Kong on the opening day (21st August).
Sri Lanka unexpectedly lost to underperforming UAE team by 12 points to 17 in their first outing.
In their second game Sri Lanka lost to new comers China by a big margin of 14 points to 33. This was China’s first appearance in the tournament.
Sri Lanka’s only consolation came in the final game to beat virtual wooden spoonists Malaysia by a big margin of 31 points to 14. Malaysia were caught off guard as they were unbeaten up to that game against Sri Lanka.
