The Planetarium of Sri Lanka situated in Colombo 7 will be shut down for repairs for 11 days from August 25 to September 4, and will be reopened on September 5 for the public. Apologizing for the inconvenience caused to the public, the officials from the Higher Education and Research Ministry stated that they will be carrying out a renovation project which is urgently needed.

At present, the Planetarium is patronized mostly by schoolchildren, for whom it is open for shows at10.00am and 2.00pm from Tuesday to Saturday, barring public holidays. It also holds exhibitions, workshops and various seminars.
